Appalachian Heritage

The Appalachian Heritage Council keeps the spirit of Appalachia
alive with entertainment ranging from storytellers to live concerts, Contra
Dances, and monthly Square Dances.  It's hard to not feel at home when your
primary goal is to be true to the origins of the region you live in.

The Club Shows Council features local and regional up-and-coming
bands and performers.  They also sponsor occasional Outdoor Concerts, and
the Annual Battle of the Bands.  Past events include The Urban
Sophisticates, John Mayer, The Mile After, Secret Lives of the Freemasons,
Farewell, and Pico vs. the Island Trees.  Want to search out new artists
before they make it big?  Come visit the Legends Back-Stage and see what
Club Shows has to offer!

Concerts

The Concerts Council oversees the processes of major concert
production.  Their goal is to bRING the top headlining national acts to ASU,
The Concerts Council presents shows in the Holmes Convocation Center,
Farthing Auditorium, and Legends, ASU's on-campus nightclub.  Members
Participate in all aspects of major concerts including the selection,
promotion and production of every show.

Council for Cultural Awareness
Chairperson:  Coyia Wallace
Meetings: Wednesdays @ 6 pm

The Council for Cultural Awareness (CCA) provides diverse cultural
programming to the Appalachian campus.  Late night DJ Dance Parties and
their Annual Step Show are packed with energy and sure to please,   CCA
exists to look out for the social needs of minorities on campus.

Films
Chairperson:  Ben Long
Meetings: Wednesdays @ 5 pm
Room: Rhododendron - Plemmons Student Union

The Films Council showcases a variety of films ranging from new
releases to old favorites shown on campus in the I.G. Greer Cinema.  Private
screenings of classic films are shown in Greenbriar Theater.  Appalachian
students can enjoy movies without the long lines and high ticket prices.

Special Events
Chairperson:  Yevgeniy Livshits
Meetings: Wednesdays @ 5 pm

The Special Events Council sponsors some of the most unique events
at ASU.  Whether that's Pumpkin Carving, Wax Hands or Hypnotists, they are
always having fun, and the best part, IT'S ALL FREE!

Stage Shows
Chairperson:  Sean Carter
Meetings: Mondays @ 5 pm
Room: Roan Mountain - Plemmons Student Union

Stage Shows brings the top regional acts to ASU's own on-campus
nightclub, Legends.  Stage Shows is always striving to find the best acts
around the region, and occasionally showcase comedy acts.  They aim for 3-4
shows a month,  making Legends the place to be on most Thursday nights.
Past acts include Outkast, Sister Hazel, Victor Wooten and even Jimmy
Fallon, all before they became the internationally touring artists they are
today.
