I joined APPS within the first month of my freshman year because I immediately noticed the impact the organization was making on campus for both new and returning students as well as for the community. I was looking to find an organization and a collegiate family to stay involved with for my entire time here at Appalachian State. Looking back, I am so glad I ventured out and found APPS because this organization and its members have truly become my home away from home.

I'm from Hickory, North Carolina and am currently a Pre-Med Biology major. This summer I volunteered and shadowed at Wake Forest Baptist Health, which allowed me to realize my passion for helping and working with people as well as confirmed that studying medicine is what I really want to do. Welcome Weekend was the first I had ever heard of APPS and I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of the organization. Bringing people together to celebrate a cause and having a great time is what I am all about. I'm really happy I took the leap from being a general member in Special Events to running for chairperson of the new Spirit and Traditions council, because now I can become even more involved and really connect with the University.
